Hello Calvary Partners,
On behalf of our Lewis and Clark's Lion Pride, I am writing to express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous donations and unwavering support towards our students, families, staff, and community. Your contributions have made a significant difference in the lives of our students and the overall well-being of our school community.
Your commitment to our lion cubs is truly commendable. The resources and assistance provided by Calvary Lutheran Church have enabled us to enhance student access to quality learning experiences by helping meet their needs within school and outside of school.
Whether it was through financial contributions, volunteer work, donations of clothing, prayers, or other forms of support, your dedication has not gone unnoticed. Your kindness and generosity have helped us create a nurturing and enriching environment where our students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
We are deeply grateful for your partnership, and look forward to continuing our collaboration in the future. Together, we can continue to make a positive impact on the lives of our lion cubs and empower them to reach their full potential.
Thank you once again for your invaluable support.
Warm regards,
Mr. Loren Hoheisel
Principal, Lewis & Clark Elementary School
"It takes a village to raise a child" is a popular proverb with a clear message: the whole community has an essential role to play in the growth and development of its young people. Here at Calvary, we have joined our neighborhood school, Lewis and Clark, in a partnership to help meet the needs of children and teacher. Lewis and Clark Elementary is a part of our village.
We are so excited to partner with Lewis and Clark in several ways. We have identified children who benefited from our Christmas Angel Tree and the Hat/Mitten Tree. The youth at Calvary have donated money to assist with snacks for hungry children and school transportation. We have celebrated with the students and staff on the last day of school with root beer floats and books, and we have done collection drives for outerwear, pajamas, and clothing. One of our favorite ways we partner with this awesome school is through reading.
Students identified as food insecure get assistance for lunch during the week, but what happens to those same students over the weekend? For that, we have the backpack program.
Calvary gets food items and packs the items on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm. Backpacks will be brought to the school, and during the school year, eligible students will receive food for the weekends.
In backpacks students will get:
2 breakfast items
2 lunch items
2 fruit items
2 snack items
2 juice boxes
EXAMPLES
Ramen noodles - chicken
Soup or noodle cups
Mac and cheese cups
Cans of chicken noodle soup
Instant oatmeal packets
Fruit cups/applesauce
Individually packed snack items not containing nuts like:
•fruit snacks, goldfish crackers, granola bars, oreo packs, etc.
Juice boxes (100% juice)
It costs around $100 to feed 1 child for the school year. We would love for you to
consider sponsoring 1 or more children for the 2023-2024 school year to provide
weekend food but any and all donations helps to make this program work.
Starting August 1 , donation station tables will be placed outside each worship
space or you can drop items off at the front office during the week.

Calvary’s It Takes A Village Ministry is helping Lewis & Clark Elementary students to FLOAT INTO SUMMER! Can you help?
Calvary had a blast serving root beer floats and celebrating the end of their school year! We have learned so much about the students learning at our closest neighborhood school over the year. With that learning came the idea to send the students home with a few books each to help keep up the excitement of reading through the summer months.
While we work to meet the physical needs of the students through our monthly backpack program, we also want to help them meet their learning goals. We are looking to you to help us fill baskets of books that the students will get to select in their last days of school.
Donate a book or two any time between now and May 10. Books must be new or like new and appropriate for children ages 5-12. Please, no board books, books with sounds, or moving parts. We also ask that there are no marks or writing in the books. Check out the registries by clicking the orange button.
When children have a home library, as little as 20 books of their own, they achieve three more years of schooling than children who don't have books at home.
