ABOUT THE JOURNEY
The confirmation program at Calvary works to meet students where they are at and takes a different approach to the journey that we have traditionally known as confirmation.
GOALS
Our goal is to build relationships in small group settings and help students explore, engage, and encounter faith as they study side by side with peers and other leaders. The goal is not to reach the destination; the goal is the journey itself.
Students will take a combination of core & elective classes as well as participate in a variety of enrichment experiences to earn “credits.”
CELEBRATE CONFIRMATION
Calvary's confirmation program aims to use a "credit" system so each person can learn and explore faith at their own pace. When participants are ready or at forty credits, they are encouraged to publicly celebrate this segment of their journey through the Rite of Confirmation.
Registration for the 2022-2023 school year is open! Students must register before signing up for classes so we can make sure we have all your information in our system for reminders and class updates. Click below to register and continue down the page to sign up for classes.
Core classes are the topics that our team has identified as the “main things that are traditionally taught in confirmation” These classes are 3-4 weeks in length and are offered several times throughout the year to make sure.
The goal of electives is to offer classes that spark interest and make faith relevant to students’ lives. These classes vary from 1-4 sessions in length.
Enrichment experiences are opportunities for students to earn confirmation credits outside of classes. The goal is to show students that there is more to church than just coming and sitting in the pews. Students can earn credits by helping in the nursery or coffee shop, teaching Sunday school, attending Bible camps and retreats, etc.
Seven Habits
You have to go to school for many years in order to qualify for most jobs in America. We act as if everybody is born knowing how to be a part of a family and worship God! Families come in all shapes and sizes. Learn to establish daily practices that keep God at the center of your family. Ideally, this class is attended by the student and a guardian.
Bible Basics
The Bible is an amazing collection of books. Some are stories, poetry, history, and letters. But they all point to Jesus! Learn how surprising God's Word can be!
Creeds & Commandments
We will take a look at the Apostles' Creeed, each article of the Creed, and its goal of unifying the body of Christ. In other words, we will explore the question "what do we believe and why?" We will move to the Ten Commandments, the list God gave us to help us live in harmony with others and with God.
Sacraments & Lord's Prayer
Baptism & Communion are outward signs of the inward grace we have received but cannot earn. God comes to us through the sacraments and prayer. We will explore the prayer Jesus taught us and how we can build a relationship with God through prayer.
In today's world, we spend a lot of time shying away from talking about death. In this class, students will explore death in scripture, talk about the stages of grief, learn about funerals, and discuss more about how to talk about death

Students select someone in their life who they feel comfortable discussing their faith with. It can be a teacher, coach, family friend, or anyone they feel they could open up with to practice talking about faith. We encourage students to select someone outside of their immediate family.
